The Aracari toucan is smaller and a bit shy compared to their bigger cousins the Keel billed toucan. We waited a few hours to catch this one flying between the branches and it was worth it.

Last day in Costa Rica and saw a few macaws hanging by Caroa trees eating nuts. This is the first time I’ve seen them with a full wing span frozen and looks a bit like a little dragon.

It’s amazing how these buffalo’s survive in the winter with little vegetation and several inches of snow on the ground. They look innocent enough, but I won’t get too close.

In the winter time you can spot big horn sheep near the National Elk Refuge in Jackson Hole. Caught this portrait just in the nick of time just before he started climbing up the Rocky Mountain.

Big horn sheep are master climbers. It took this less than a minute to get from climb down this rock face.

Being caught in a lions gaze is an experience you don’t easily forget. Luckily I was in a jeep about 20 feet away and the lion walked past without any drama.
